Gee...lemme see...the first thing I ever sold was to Omni Magazine,lol. I was 11, and sold a short blurb to the Antimatter column...about vampires, no less, lol!
I sell some stuff through a site called Constant Content-publishers post requests, you write it, they buy it if they like it. For some reason, News India likes my stuff. The downside to CC is that you don't always get a byline if the publisher buys full rights, but they always have plenty of work.The rest is print publications-Mother Earth News, Broken Pencil, Polishing Stone, stuff like that. I'm definately NOT famous, nor do I ever expect to be. As for books...I'm trying to work out a contract with Atriad Press right now, for a book on backroad hauntings. I'm also playing around with a website that does POD publishing, but I'm not sure I want to do that just yet. It sounds like a quick way to get a book out, but I don't think I can handle my own marketing.
